Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media, public speaker and Canadian. She was the creator of Feminist Frequency an online platform that provides commentary and videos on gender representations in popular cultural. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic, blogger as well as an award-winning feminist for nearly a decade. Feminist Frequency is an educational site for non-profit organizations that analyzes how females are represented in popular culture narratives. The challenge of destroying stereotypes regarding women is her main focus. In addition, she strives to raise awareness about things like targeting and bullying of women who are online. Sarkeesian, who holds an MA in Social and Political thought at York University, is also well-known as a sought-after public presenter. She has presented speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. Since her early years she was captivated by issues of gender identity and feminist thought. In her final year at university, in 2009 she developed her Feminist Frequency website. The ambitious lady planned to begin a web series that would examine gender representation in video games. However, she found herself the target for an online harassment campaign. However, the harassment didn't hinder her. She was only able to strengthen her position in her role as a journalist who is feminist. Sarkeesian has been awarded numerous awards due to her important contributions to the field of feministism.
